Recently, the Stellantis EV Day 2021 brought a host of information about the electrification plans of the automaker. As for Jeep, the hero brand is an integral part of the discussion, and we can expect lots of electrons to be flying around the trails, as evidenced by the company reveals.
We already know the EV revolution calls for Jeep to electrify all of its models, from the rumored A-segment “Baby Jeep” to the Wagoneer full-size SUV line. So, it’s only natural for the pixel masters of the world to start imagining possible battery-operated vehicles with the Jeep logo above the slotted (but closed) grille. Actually, Jeep itself has officially kickstarted the electrification party, as it recently presented the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe.
Still, the virtual artist behind the KDesign AG account on Behance (Kleber Silva from Barueri, Brazil) has taken things a step further. He didn’t just use the basics of a Jeep vehicle that’s already in production. Instead, he looked back to the Jeep history books and performed an unofficial revival to bring to life an SUV that might serve as an EV alternative to other interesting reinventions.
There’s no need to just hint at the 2021 Ford Bronco because this 2024 Jeep Comanche EV takes a direct swing at the Blue Oval with its headlight design. With the direct reference crossed off the checklist, the battery electric vehicle integrates many of the usual Jeep cues, such as the taillights and slotted grille designs. But, oddly enough, the jabs directed at possible competitors from then and now are all over the place.
Is it just us, or is this unofficial revival of the Comanche nameplate (once used for a pickup truck version of the XJ Cherokee compact SUV) showing a lot of the cues that made Toyota’s FJ Cruiser so unique? For me, the front three-quarters point of view gave me instant reminiscences of the vintage-styled Japanese mid-size sport utility vehicle. Not bad at all, but probably it’s also never going to happen in real life.
