Sygic is one of the biggest names in the navigation space, as its software comes with advanced features you don't typically find easily. Wrong-way driver warnings are the best example, as they rely on crowdsourcing data and a driving direction detection engine to determine if you're going in the correct direction.
The company has been working around the clock not only to add new-generation features to its software but also to bring its top products to all popular platforms.

After releasing the GPS Truck & Caravan Navigation solution on CarPlay, Sygic is now bringing the same navigation app to Android Auto, providing users with the essential feature package directly on the infotainment screen.

Sygic says it's the first company offering navigation aimed at large vehicles on CarPlay and Android Auto, targeting trucks and RVs.

The navigation engine considers more data when looking for routes, including the vehicle dimensions, the cargo specifications, the maximum speed, and emissions. Eventually, Sygic's GPS navigation software will send large vehicles to roads where they certainly fit and are allowed, compared to standard navigation solutions, such as Google Maps, which don't take vehicle dimensions and cargo size into account.

Sygic's software also comes with multiple extras, including support for offline maps. The application can continue offering route guidance without an Internet connection, so if you drive a truck in a region with limited cellular coverage, Sygic will continue to guide you to the destination. You won't get live data, such as traffic conditions, but the guidance will continue uninterrupted.

The Android Auto support is available as part of the premium package, so you'll have to get a subscription to access this feature.

Truck navigation is a space that many big names in the market keep ignoring, including giants like Google and Apple. Their products, namely Google Maps and Apple Maps, respectively, offer navigation for standard vehicles without considering vehicle dimensions or cargo type. People misusing these apps is not uncommon, as truck drivers who rely on Google Maps and Apple Maps for navigation often end up in ridiculous situations where their vehicles can't continue the route because they don't fit on the suggested road.

Google has never commented on a potential truck navigation mode for Google Maps despite the received feedback. The company seems to be focused more on delivering new-generation features for standard vehicles rather than investing in truck navigation, as this mode would require tremendous work.

To get Android Auto support in Sygic's software, it's enough to update the app to the latest version. Once you do this, the app's icon should show up in the Android Auto app drawer, allowing you to configure navigation on the infotainment unit. However, remember that not all features available on the mobile device are also on Android Auto, so you'll have to configure the vehicle profile on the smartphone.
