The success of the Top Gear television show will leave, in part, the TV screens and make an attempt at taking over new infotainment mediums, like the iPad and mobile phones. According to the latest news concerning the show, the owners of the format are trying come up with a game for the aforementioned new platforms.
Even more, the show's producers are trying to create an American version of the show, with the men in charge with making it a reality already seeking the best personnel for the job. “Top Gear is a priority for us,” BBC Worldwide’s EVP of Digital Entertainment Robert Nashak was quoted as saying by mcvuk.com. “We are coming out with an American format of Top Gear. If that takes off, and I hope it does, then I believe that Top Gear will become a powerhouse global brand.”
As for the Top Gear game, no details on it are available yet. The show will however will be accompanied into the realm of gaming by other BBC TV series as well, including Doctor Who In The Night Garden, Lonely Planet, Strictly Come Dancing and Torchwood.
For the task, it would appear BBC hired Paul Joffe (former THQ and Disney Interactive executive) and Ben Badgett (former director of gaming at Cartoon Network).
“I am trying to build a team that really understands how to get to the meat of the matter when it comes to brands,” Nashak added.
