Top Gear's James May Awarded Honorary Doctorate

Top Gear’s James May was also knows as Captain Slow (although he has managed to leave Clarkson and Hammond behind on some occasions), but it seems like that is all about to change.

No, May hasn’t decided to become a heavy speeder. It’s just that he should be called Doctor Captain Slow from now on, as he has been awarded an honorary degree by Lancaster University.

This is the institution that saw May graduating with a music degree back in 1985. After a long period of absence, the famous presenter went back to school and he has now been awarded a honorary doctorate in Letters.

May said that he was flattered to receive the accolade and that he felt a rush of emotions caused by the return to his university. We couldn’t help wonder if this involved a ”sensation behind the p***s”, but this is another story.

May also told the BBC that he... (you guessed it) got lost in the University’s campus - The presenter was known for the lack of a sense of direction, but until now this has only had consequences on his driving.

Now, Top Gear can pride itself with having two presenters with an honorary degree, as Jeremy Clarkson received a honorary engineering doctorate from the Oxford Brooks University back in 2005.

So, Clarkson knows cars, May can surely write, but what about Hammond? Well, as far as we know, he loves and owns muscle cars. What, that’s one of the finest qualities that a man can have!

P.S. What about the Stig? What could his area of expertise (besides the obvious answer) be?
