If you're interested in buying or building a tiny home on wheels, yet you're not fully convinced that van life is for you, I suggest renting out a camper van to find out whether this lifestyle is a good match for you. Today, I'm checking out a deluxe camper van that's part of a rental fleet of adventure vans.
Regardless of how much you research van life, the best way to experience it is to actually live it. Of course, there's no sense in building a mobile home if you're not fully convinced that you'll enjoy traveling and living inside it. Luckily, there are many companies and individuals that rent out their camper vans.

The company I'm talking about today is Wheelsuites, previously known as HotelVroom, which is based in San Francisco. It offers luxury adventure vans packed with everything you need to enjoy the outdoors, including an interior bathroom, heating and A/C, and more.

Wheelsuites chose professionals to bring their camper van fleet vision to life. It reached out to Ready Set Van, a specialized van converter that I've written about here on autoevolution before. Here's one of the rigs the company built – Wheelsuites requested the van to be able to sleep and seat four.

The base vehicle of choice was a Ram ProMaster 2500. As usual, I'll start the van tour with the exterior. It looks quite stealthy, meaning there aren't any features instantly revealing this is a tiny home on wheels. You'll notice running boards on the passenger side, as well as a Fiamma F80 awning above and a CR Lawrence window.

That's about it regarding the exterior. There's a lot more to talk about regarding the interior, so let's head inside. The entryway is spacious, with no kitchen counter blocking part of the entrance like in other camper vans. Furthermore, a roll-down bug screen can be used to cover the entrance, so you don't have to worry about insects entering your home. The same goes for the rear doors.

Regarding aesthetics, this camper van's interior features a bright design, with many white elements, such as the walls and cabinetry, paired with wood tones all around and a Lonseal vinyl floor. What's more, you'll notice an open layout, meaning the driver's cabin isn't separated from the living space, making the interior feel spacious.

Ready Set Van installed aftermarket swivels for the driver's and passenger's seats. Behind the driver's seat, you'll discover the rig's seating area. It consists of a double bench seat and a swivel acrylic wood table. Other notable features are an Arctic Turn window complete with a black-out shade and a bug screen, a sizeable drawer underneath the bench, and two overhead cabinets, with one of them housing a microwave.

Although it doesn't look like it, the seating area is designed to sleep two people. The bench seat can be folded into a small bed, with the driver's seat supporting the legs of the passenger. But where does the second passenger sleep?

Ready Set Van came up with a clever solution. The floor panel underneath the seating area can be lifted to reveal two cushions. You can arrange them to form an extra bed on the floor. It's not the most comfortable solution, but it'll do the job. What's more, it can only fit people with a maximum height of 5'9" (175 centimeters).

Next, we have the kitchen, located on the passenger side of the interior. It features a spacious butcher block countertop, a deep stainless steel sink with a cutting board cover, a single-burner induction stove, and a small fridge/freezer. Moreover, on the wall behind the kitchen, you'll notice dimmable light switches, an inverter switch, a Webasto heater controller, and a Victron Cerbo GX display.

Storage is critical for any tiny home on wheels. In this unit's kitchen, you can use multiple drawers and the cabinet underneath the sink. Unlike most camper van conversions, this one doesn't have cabinets above the kitchen. You lose some storage space, but you get an open, spacious feel in exchange.

You might've noticed the drawers don't have RV latches. That's because Ready Set Van came up with an ingenious locking system. When you start the van, an electronic mechanism locks the drawers.

Of course, that doesn't mean you can't open the drawers when the van is running. All you have to do is press a switch on the wall, and the drawers will be instantly accessible. Oh, by the way, one of the drawers serves as a step to get into bed.

Opposite the kitchen, you'll find the rig's bathroom. It comprises a white acrylic cabin, wall-mounted shampoo and soap bottles, a shower, a portable Thetford cassette toilet, and a Nautilus self-cleaning sliding door.

The last part of the living space is the bedroom at the rear. It boasts a full-size bed with an 8-inch mattress, two overhead cabinets, a Maxxair fan, and recessed pockets on both sides of the interior that serve as headboards and footboards.

The garage is by far the largest storage space in the van – it can be accessed from both inside and outside the van. The middle part is where you can store your belongings, while the sides are occupied by boxes holding the utility systems.

On the left, you'll find the power system. Its highlights are a 3,000 W inverter, a 400 Ah battery, and a solar charge controller connected to a 350 W solar panel on the roof. The other box holds the plumbing system, consisting of a 30-gallon (114-liter) freshwater tank, a 4-gallon (15-liter) heater, and an outdoor shower. Since we're on the topic of utilities, I want to share that the rig is equipped with a Houghton 9,500 BTU ceiling A/C.

All in all, Ready Set Van came up with a fantastic hotel suite on wheels ready to accommodate adventurers. It's cozy, aesthetically-pleasing, and its fourth bed is something I haven't seen before.

I usually end my articles with some financial info regarding the rig. The base price of the company's Highline conversion, very similar to the one I checked out today, is $74,250 (€69,696) - of course, this price excludes the base vehicle. By the way, a new Ram ProMaster 2500 with a 159" wheelbase and a high roof, like the one I discussed today, has an MSRP starting at $54,150 (€50,829).

But what if you want to rent this mobile home? As per Wheelsuites' terms, you'll need to get it for at least two nights. The starting prices for rental are $375 (€352) daily, $2,495 (€2,342) weekly, and $8,985 (€8,434) monthly. That last price is quite a hefty amount. You could build your own camper van for that price - take this rig as an example.
