You may think that it is way too early to get yourself ready for Christmas. But there is no such thing as 'too early' when it comes to gifts. Especially since there is a Ford F-150 Lightning scale model Christmas tree ornament for all the fans of the electric pickup truck out there.
This is one Ford F-150 Lightning that just about anyone can afford. It is mid-summer, and it is crazy hot. But it is just the right time to get yourself ready for the winter holidays and avoid the Christmas rush. Unless, of course, you like traffic jams, shopping mall crowds, and queuing for things that you need to buy. If you've got a Ford fan in your family or among your friends, you wontt need to do that.
An F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck to hang on the Christmas tree is a nice Christmas gift idea. It is the idea that Hallmark Keepsake came up with. The greeting card maker is rolling out a special addition to the tree ornaments collection. And it is one for all thosepetrolheads EV enthusiasts out there.
The scale model is finished in silver. It sports a license plate that says "2022" at the front and another one that reads "2023" at the rear. The wheels turn, but the doors do not open.
Designed by Timothy Bishop, the metal tree ornament is an officially licensed Ford product and is available with a price tag of $21.99. You can put it on your shopping list now, but it will be available starting October 14.
In the meantime, if you want to get yourself the real deal to match the scale model that will be hanging on the tree for Christmas, you must know that Ford slashed prices of its electric F-150. For the Pro entry-level version, customers have to pay $49,995.
That is almost $10,000 less than the price the pickup truck came with back in June but still $10,000 more than the original price announced by Ford when sales kicked off last year.
What do you get for the money? Well, surely more than you would get for the $21.99 you'd pay for the scale model Christmas decoration. The Ford F-150 Lightning Pro is powered by two electric motors, one on the front axle and another one at the rear, that deliver a total of 436 horsepower (442 PS) and 775 lb-ft (1,051 Nm) of torque. Those are enough for a run from 0 to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, a top speed of 111.8 mph (180 kph), a 2,000 lbs (907 kg) load capacity, and an up to 7,700 lbs (3,429 kg) tow capacity with the Max Trailer Tow package.
A 98-kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides it with an EPA-estimated range of up to 240 miles (386 kilometers). That would be 300 miles for the vehicles equipped with the Extended Range pack, which includes the larger 131-kWh battery.
