Tesla is moving faster than anyone anticipated with the Cybertruck deliveries. As of this weekend, hundreds of reservation holders were announced that they could start configuring a Foundation Series Cybertruck. On Sunday, some of them were told to prepare for delivery, which surprised everyone.
Tesla held a Cybertruck Delivery Day event on November 30 to hand over the first pickup trucks to their owners. The event was different from others that Tesla organized in the past when the first units were mostly delivered to employees. With the Cybertruck, Tesla also onboarded celebrities and influencers, some of them leaving the event in Austin behind the wheel of an electric pickup.

About a dozen units were delivered during the event, confirming earlier rumors about the number of trucks available. We were a little disappointed, thinking the Cybertruck production must be struggling. However, Tesla surprised everyone when it sent invitations to reservation holders to configure their Foundation Series Cybertruck. According to Tesla insiders, hundreds of people were invited to choose between the Foundation Series Cybertruck AWD and the Foundation Series Cyberbeast.

These are "fully loaded" Cybertrucks, which come with a laser-etched Foundation Series badge, a white interior, a Powershare mobile connector, Full Self-Driving capability, lifetime premium connectivity, and a comprehensive set of premium Cybertruck accessories. The prices are $20,000 more than the regular Cybertruck variants. With the FSD capability being $12,000, this is an excellent package for those who order the Foundation Series Cybertruck.

During the configuration process, the potential customers in Texas and California are informed that the Cybertruck will be delivered between December 2023 and March 2024 (Cybertruck AWD) or "early 2024" (Cyberbeast). Other states will follow next year as Tesla ramps up production at Giga Texas. Many thought that these delivery estimates were in line with other Tesla promises and made no immediate financial plans for the Cybertruck purchase.

This put some of them into a predicament as they were already announced to prepare for delivery. There are many reports on X about emails sent to people who ordered the Foundation Series. Should they not go through with the purchase, they might lose the reservation and see themselves at the bottom of a very long queue. There are reportedly over two million reservations for the Cybertruck, with more added every day.

There's also worrying information coming from those who ordered the Cybertruck. Tesla changed its policy again to include a penalty for those who resale their Foundation Series Cybertruck in the first year after delivery. Tesla first announced a no-resale policy for the Cybertruck last month but backed down only three days later. Now, the order contract has reinstated the no-resale clause, which says you have to pay Tesla $50,000 or whatever you gain from the sale if it's more than $50,000.
