More Tesla Cybertrucks are hitting the roads as part of various test drives, and the electric pickup starts to get the wrong kind of attention. The Thanksgiving weekend brought us videos of a Cybertruck getting busted by a speed camera in Montreal and another one impounded after getting a parking ticket in San Francisco.
Tesla will deliver the first Cybertrucks to their owners on November 30, but rumors indicated that only ten lucky people will leave Giga Austin driving one. This starkly contrasts with the relatively high number of Cybertruck pickups spotted on public roads, not to mention those parked inside Tesla showrooms across the country. It appears that Tesla has already produced a significant number, acting like rolling billboards for the company.
Not all advertising is good advertising, though, and some of these trucks made the headlines for the wrong reasons. In some cases, they broke down in the middle of the road and had to be towed away. We recorded two instances when the Cybertruck was covered with a tarp before a tow truck came to the rescue.
On other occasions, Cybertruck drivers got ticketed after parking in restricted areas. Two weeks ago, we saw the pictures of the first Cybertruck getting a parking ticket. The internet filled with jokes about the gigawiper, which probably needed to be lifted by a crane for the police officer to slip the parking ticket underneath. Police apparently got better at this because another Cybertruck was seen this weekend with a parking ticket under the wiper.
Not only that but the electric pickup was towed away on Saturday, with the parking ticket still fluttering from under the wiper. The video surely answers people's questions about the possibility of towing a Cybertruck. Well, it's not only possible, but it's on the record now for all to see. You don't even need a big tow truck for the job.
As some people said in the comments on X, it was one of those karma moments after the Cybertruck driver berated bystanders who got too close to the truck at a Supercharger earlier that day. Considering that not even Tesla employees are allowed to touch the Cybertrucks in the showrooms, the guy who lost this one will have a lot of explaining to do on Monday. Leaving headquarters in a Cybertruck and returning to work in an Uber must be embarrassing.
