Tesla Cybertruck's First Discovered Easter Egg Is, Predictably, About the Broken Windows

The Cybertruck wouldn't be a Tesla without the customary easter eggs. The first one revealed is a shoutout to the moment when Franz von Holzhausen broke the Cybertruck's windows with a steel ball during the 2019 launch event.

Elon Musk has often been criticized for being childish, although this is also a significant advantage for Tesla and his other companies. Not knowing the word "impossible" and having a wild imagination are some of the most important reasons Tesla is where it is. If this means irking some Tesla critics, so be it, but Musk's playful character has proven more of an asset than a liability so far.

For Tesla owners, this also means getting used to inside jokes and pranks, even when some of them might not seem appropriate for a grownup. Everyone knows Tesla cars can fart, but few are aware of many hidden features that can be fun or just weird. Take the Santa Mode as an example. That was what Musk called in 2017 "an easter egg within an easter egg."

Activate it from the Toy Box menu, and you'll see your car's visualization on the screen turning into Santa's sleigh while "Run Rudolph Run" will play in the background. However, issue the "Ho, ho, ho, not funny" voice command, and it will play "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" instead. Not funny but also funny in a twisted way.

Knowing this, we fully expected the Cybertruck to come with its own easter eggs. And, not that we ever doubted, Tesla delivered. As discovered by accident by one of the early Cybertruck owners, Tesla's electric pickup comes with a "broken window" easter egg. Since this was the most talked about detail about the Cybertruck, years after the official unveiling in 2019, it made sense that Tesla hasn't forgotten about it.

Dennis (@DennisCW_) discovered the easter egg when the screen of his Cybertruck went blank, and he tried to wake it up by tapping on it. While doing this, the screen did come back to life after a while, but the Cybertruck 3D model on the screen had both its driver-side windows smashed. This surprised him enough that he forgot to question why the Cybertruck's screen went blank in the first place.

To activate the easter egg, you need to tap repeatedly on the left side windows of the Cybertruck visualization in the center infotainment screen. Both left-side windows can be "smashed" by doing so, a nice reminder of the moment that made Elon Musk exclaim, "Oh, my *** god!" The funny thing is that by activating the easter egg, you can actually hear Musk saying the words, so it's best to crank up the volume.

So far, it appears that punching the right-side windows or other windows doesn't reveal any easter eggs. The Cybertruck owner thought that maybe hitting the doors (remember the hummer?) would do something, but it didn't. If there are other easter eggs (and I'm sure there are), they are not activated by punching the Cybertruck. We'll have to wait until other Cybertruck easter eggs are revealed.
