The Ford Mustang just turned 60 this month, and the Blue Oval celebrated with the 60th Anniversary package – a limited fixture solely available in exactly 1,965 examples.
But they also extended the celebration to other markets because Ford takes pride in having the Mustang in production as the world's best-selling sports car. As such, the anniversary brought news of the mind-bending 800-hp Mustang GTD coming to Europe, and the Old Continent is also getting the Mustang California Special and the new Mustang Nite Pony Package.

At home in America, though, every moment alongside a Mustang is another reason to celebrate – even if that means teaching a lesson to another American-born car at the local quarter-mile dragstrip. Oh, and for good measure, that brawl was an ICE versus EV one featuring the mighty Tesla Model S Plaid. Are you interested already?

So, a new YouTube channel aptly named The Drag Race seeks to make a name for itself on the quarter-mile scene with quick racer interviews and feisty dragstrip action. We have seen things like a Ford Mustang GT thrice dragging a Toyota GR Supra, much to the chagrin of some folks. We have also witnessed extreme stuff like a twin-turbo Dodge Viper racing a 2,000-hp Audi R8 and someone getting rolled, and fast.

Now, let's settle for something in between. Don't you think that the contenders are any less feisty, though, as we are talking about an 850-horsepower Ford Mustang GT with a supercharged V8 taking on a turbo Honda Civic underdog and then ripping the track in search of the ultimate ICE versus EV brawl against the 1,020-horsepower Tesla Model S Plaid. The first skirmish – against the 'red devil' turbo widebody Honda Civic is an FWD versus RWD affair, and the Mustang GT put everything into perspective, especially the clean pass, with a 9.6s versus 9.7s victory. Obviously, this was one of those days when it was close but not close enough, as evidenced by the second skirmish.

Next up, the Mustang faced off against the Tesla Model S Plaid, and obviously, both racers felt the pressure at the Bradenton Motorsports Park edition of Street Car Takeover. It was a great run from both the tuned muscle car icon and the novel EV contender, but the electronic scoreboard brought sadness and tears into the eyes of ICE aficionados: 9.48s for Tesla and 9.57s for the Blue Oval. However, hold your handkerchiefs down – the same electronic scoreboard's lights revealed the actual winner is the Mustang GT!

True, it's not a clean victory with a better ET, but it's a win, nonetheless. Now, everyone's entitled to an opinion – what do you think happened during the event and caused this flipped situation? Also, if you could go home in one of those two vehicles, would you select the modded 'Stang or the clean Plaid?
