With the 2014 New York Auto Show almost ready to begin, Subaru is going all Smurf on us, teasing us with an image that appears to show the rear end of a WRX STI fitted with a massive wing dressed in a hue that would easily qualify for Smurf Blue.
The automaker hasn’t released any info with the image, only sending us a brief message - “See you at the New York International Auto Show”. By the way, the event kicks off on Wednesday, April 16 (this is the first press day).

The Impreza shown here is wearing a carbon fiber boot lit, complete with a very aggressive spoiler, as well as the massive wing we mentioned above. Judging by the size of these aerodynamic elements, this should be a motorsport-related development rather than a road-going one.

Subaru could also give us a street car, but, in that case, we would talking about a special edition of some sort.

We’d like to remind you that while the 2015 WRX has received a new 2.0-liter turbocharged unit producing 268 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, while the WRX STI kept the previous model’s 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer. This allows the driver to play with 305 hp and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm).
