Subaru of America expects a 30 percent increase in sales in July compared to the same month of the previous years, citing, of course, the shockingly successful CARS scrapping scheme as the main reason. Such a boost would translate into the best ever sales month for the Japanese manufacturer in the United States, the company said in a statement.
Besides the Cash for Clunkers programme which brought many more consumers in the showrooms, Subaru's newly revealed 2010 Legacy and Outback are also two main reasons for this sales increase.
"Following a record-setting June, Subaru of America, Inc. is predicting it will announce a 30-percent increase in sales over its July 2008 results, resulting in the company's best-ever sales month. Acknowledging the industry benefit from the CARS program, the automaker is citing the introduction of its new 2010 Legacy and Outback models and healthy sales for its existing products as the key reasons for the continuation of its strong sales results. Subaru was the only volume brand in 2008 to show a sales increase and is the top performing brand in the industry in 2009 (July sales not yet included)," Subaru said the statement.
It's no surprising news that Subaru benefits from the CARS scheme as the campaign launched by the United States ran out of cash in less than one week. Furthermore, the American government has already confirmed that an extra $2 billion package will be directed towards the scheme, with the money now awaiting Senate's approval.
The US CARS is still operating, according to the official website of the programme, but sources familiar with the matter raised concerns that dealerships might not get reimbursed.
