Subaru of America announced the introduction of the new Starlink connected services, their new platform that will introduce hands-free connectivity, entertainment and safety services for the brand's clientele.
Complementary to the features above, Subaru Starlink is also bringing to the table touch-screen audio and navigation systems available in select 2016 Subaru models.

But what exactly is Starlink all about and what will you get for the money? We're here to disambiguate that, so the first thing you should know is that two Starlink packages will be available.

The first one is called Starlink Safety Plus and includes features such as Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts. Clients receive one-year subscription after buying a new vehicle, which can be renewed with a two-year subscription for $99.

If you're looking for that extra level of safety, Subaru offers the Starlink Safety Plus & Security Plus pack. This option adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator to the tally. The Safety Plus & Security Plus kit requires another $49 but a two-year subscription worth $149 you get both packs.

Regarding car-user interaction, Subaru Starlink comes with a standard 6.2-inch touchscreen but you can go for the larger 7-inch tactile display with multi-gesture touch controls. Also, the system can deliver live traffic alerts through SiriusXM Traffic TM and travel information through SiriusXM Travel LinkTM.

Subaru has already rolled the Starlink infotainment system on the slightly revised 2016 Subaru Legacy and 2016 Subaru Outback, but other models should receive the same amenities too.
