There is a deep connection between yachts and the world of art, and we have seen many vessels that seem more like floating works of art than watercraft for leisure and entertainment. It's true that many of them were in concept form, but today we are going to look at a real-life example that encapsulates the concept of yachts as art.
The voluptuous yet gracious yacht you see here is the Zeelander 7, previously called the Z72 in reference to its overall length, from Dutch shipbuilder Zeelander Yachts. The yard has just shared new stunning pictures of the yacht, showing its unique and individual design that makes it the ultimate collector's item.

The Zeelander 7, touted as "the ultimate tranquil haven for an extended holiday," concludes the yard's rebranding efforts and shifting towards a more contemporary design. This particular model is the flagship of the line and was initially launched in March 2019. It has two smaller siblings, the Zeelander 5 and Zeelander 6, which display the same seductive aesthetic and luxurious finishes.

"By relaunching the Zeelander 7, we are making a bold statement: Zeelander builds just one design in three different sizes. The golden thread that runs through all our yachts is the same rich, curved aesthetic, sculptural grace, and sensuous finish. This will never change, and that is why our yachts have become icons," founder of the Zeelander yard, Sietse Koopmans, has said.

Fresh photography from world-renowned visual artist Guillaume Plisson highlights the Zeelander 7's timeless exterior design with perfect curves, as well as its lush interior.

The exterior design was created with input from luxury yacht designer Cor D. Rover and is characterized by an imposing hull with a tall, flared bow and a long, sweeping S-shaped shear line that embraces the deeply raked-style transom designed to streamline the boat's movement through the water. A single strip of three-dimensionally sculpted glass surrounds the low-profile deckhouse.

Zeelander 7 is not a big vessel at just 66.7 feet long (20.4 meters), but the yard has optimized the available deck space to offer the owner and their guests a memorable yachting experience. As such, the aft deck boasts a large sunpad that can turn into a sofa and a clever bar area that makes use of the countertop area by the retractable aft window.

Actually, the entire vessel is characterized by a flexible indoor-outdoor layout. The main deck, for instance, can be opened up to the outdoors and allow for fantastic panoramic views of the surroundings. The sunroof above the saloon also helps bring the outdoors in. Thanks to this setup, the lucky owners of this yacht would be able to experience a thorough connection with the ocean.

In addition, the transom opens up above the waterline to reveal a generous aft platform that can be used as a swimming platform, a lounging area, or simply a contemplation spot from where to enjoy the views.

No luxury watercraft can go without a capable galley, and Zeelander 7 doesn't disappoint in this respect. It stands between the bar area and the flexible lounging and dining space in the main-deck saloon. The owner can choose to add a hydraulic high-low table in this versatile area if they plan to cruise in remote waters.

The sleeping quarters are below deck and include a faultless master suite and two guest staterooms, offering accommodation for up to six guests. They all feature modern, sleek finishes and premium materials. The lavish owner's cabin occupies the forward third of the vessel and includes a massive king-sized island bed, a desk area, a reading nook, and abundant storage. It also has a large ensuite bathroom.

The motor yacht also has a small crew cabin aft and even a tender garage that can be accessed via a shell door to starboard.

Granted, timeless contemporary design and luxury finishes are the main highlights of the Zeelander 7, but the true standout feature is its whisper-quiet mode of operation. Quietness, in fact, is in the Dutch yard's DNA, and they managed to build a "tranquil haven" with this yacht model by employing the right combination of materials, techniques, and technology. The company promises that background noise is never louder than 72dB, and at anchor, everything around you is whisper quiet.

That's an incredible feat to achieve, considering the vessel takes power from three Volvo Penta IPS drives, with options ranging from 725 hp engines up to 1000 hp units for a bullet-fast top speed of 40 knots (46 mph or 74 kph) at full tilt. Moreover, clever hydrodynamics designed specifically for Volvo's IPS POD drives ensure maximized efficiency. As such, when cruising at 26 knots (30 mph or 48 kph), Zeelander 7 will still have a range above the 600-mile (965-km) mark.

Pricing for the rebranded Zeelander 7 has not yet been revealed, but just like its smaller siblings, the yacht can be customized to its future owner's taste. We have already seen a Zeelander yacht customized to match its owner's Ferrari, so everything is possible with this shipyard.
