The automotive industry has had an uncanny passion for crossovers, SUVs, and trucks these past few years. And no love is bigger than the one for compact CUVs, which now make up a big chunk of the worldwide sales charts. So, are we surprised that everyone wants to chip in, including Alfa Romeo, Audi, or Volkswagen?
Well, the reason we mentioned these three automakers, in particular, is simple. Digital automotive designers from around the world have seemingly united in a CGI-driven compact crossover SUV quest, and we're presented with ample opportunities now – Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi Q3, and Volkswagen Tiguan. So, let's get started with these unofficial presentations, shall we?
First, we all know that the Italians at Alfa Romeo are slow to present all-new models or upgraded versions of their current iterations. So, in the real world, it will be a while before the company moves anything in this direction because they just facelifted the Giulia sedan plus Stelvio CUV and recently introduced the third model line – the Tonale crossover SUV.
However, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right CGI time to (again) fiddle with the sporty Stelvio and infuse it with a second facelift from across 'imagination land.' The changes are subtle yet impactful – a completely new front fascia with a modified bumper, different air outlets, and Tonale-inspired headlights. Plus, around the back, the taillights have become a lot slimmer and also adhere to the LED light bar trend to keep up with the times.
Now we move over to the good folks at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube, who have imagined the CGI looks of the upcoming, related Audi Q3 and Volkswagen Tiguan. They are both underpinned by the same Volkswagen group MQB A2 platform, so it's only normal to get redesigned around the same time – at least across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, if not in the real world. While as far as the latter is concerned, the VW Tiguan will get a third generation with modern underpinnings, the resident pixel master from AutoYa still treats it as a simple redesign – mainly because the changes aren't so noteworthy, as always.
Well, that doesn't matter – more important is consumers' opinion, and even CGI experts take that into account. So, the channel's host not only offers all the information available at the moment but also treats viewers to both interior and exterior CGIs of the Q3 and Tiguan, all complete with a ritzy color palette. Still, as always, a word of caution – do take all these renderings with a healthy dose of salt because sometimes they are just wild guesses and have nothing to do with OEM reality. So, with that said, which of the three compact SUVs is your CGI favorite?
