Spotify is currently the world’s leading music streaming platform not only on iPhone and Android, but also on CarPlay and Android Auto.
And because the number of users is always on the rise, Spotify is continuously looking into making the service available to more people across the world.

This week, Spotify confirmed it plans to debut in South Korea in the first half of 2021, thus providing local users not only with content from popular artists in the country but also with access to over 60 million tracks and 4 billion playlists.

This is good news for Korean artists too, as they’re thus getting access to Spotify listeners from all over the world. The company says there are 320 million users across the world, so theoretically, this is a great opportunity for South Korean artists to expand their reach.

As one of the fastest-growing major music markets in the world* and the sixth-largest music market globally, South Korea is key for Spotify in our mission of giving a million artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by it. Spotify wants to help accelerate the growth of Korea’s entire music streaming ecosystem, benefitting artists, labels, distributors and fans,” the company said in a press release (embedded below too).

While the competition in this market is getting fiercer, especially because giants Apple and Google are insisting on their own music services, Spotify keeps improving its offering on all platforms, thus trying to make the platform available everywhere.

Thanks to mobile apps, Spotify can be accessed on the go using an Android device or an iPhone, while in the car, the service supports both Android Auto and CarPlay with dedicated apps that are powered by smartphones. Spotify also comes with a free version, though right now, the company says the number of paying subscribers is growing, with more people getting access to premium content.
