Skoda pulled quite a nice trick at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, unveiling the VisionC five-door coupe, a vehicle that previews a bit of an upmarket move. We haven’t heard any new details on the matter ever since, but now we have a rendering that gives us a pretty good take on how the production model could look like.
Coming from X-Tomi, the rendering strips the VisionC of those elements that usually get left behind when the production green light is switched on. While the concept’s front grille remains in place, the headlights, as well as the foglights make room for units resembling those present on current Skoda models.

Speaking of styling, the cues of the VisionC bring this Skoda pretty close to SEAT’s design language. The interesting part here is that the concept also previews Skoda’s future design direction.

If you ask us, Skoda kind of lost its design appeal when Dirk van Braeckel left his head of design position at the company to lead Bentley’s styling department. He’s the man who oversaw the styling process of the first- and second-generation Octavia, as well as of the first Fabia and Superb. Oh and in case you’re curious about his activity at Bentley, at one end of the scale we have the magnificent Conti GT, while at the other end we find the questionable EXP 9 F concept. Thus, the changes previewed here would be welcome.

Like we said, Skoda hasn’t confirmed the production version of the VisionC yet. Should the project go through, this is expected to be underpinned by the VW Group’s MQB modular transverse platform, the one found under models such as the Octavia or VW Golf.

While the concept was powered by a 1.4-liter TSI direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This could run on both petrol and natural gas, delivering 100 hp. As for the production version, this would be offered with a wide range of VW Group four-cylinder TDIs and TSIs.
