Having enhanced the performance and driving range of the range-topping RS (vRS in the UK) last week, Skoda has now put the spotlight on the normal Enyaq. The electric crossover, which is mechanically related to the Volkswagen ID.4, brings enhancements in most key areas.
While the base flavor, which is called the Enyaq 60, is basically the same, save for a 3-mile (5-km) range improvement (249 miles/400 km total) and some added safety gear, the new 85 and 85x models are certainly worth writing home about.

Instead of the entry-level's 58 kWh battery, these feature a 77 kWh unit. Replacing the 80 and 80x, the 85 and 85x bring more range and power. For instance, the two-wheel drive 80 now has 282 hp (286 ps/210 kW) on tap, an extra 81 hp (82 ps/60 kW) than the model it replaces. Thus, the top speed has increased by 12 mph (19 kph) to 111 mph (179 kph), and it has shaved 1.8 seconds from the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint, which drops to 6.7 seconds.

Choosing the all-wheel drive variant, namely the 85x, will make your Enyaq one-tenth of a second faster than the two-wheel drive model. The top speed is identical at 111 mph, and the total driving range is 328 miles (528 km), an 11-mile (18-km) improvement. The normal 85 has 351 miles (565 km) of range, up 7 miles (11 km) from the old 80. It can charge at 135 kW and the 85x at 175 kW. A 10-80% recharge takes 28 minutes in both models.

Besides enhancing the battery technology, the Czech automaker has made improvements to the two main screens on the inside, digital dials, and the infotainment system. Additionally, shoppers can get the Edition trim that is available on the 85 and 85x trim levels, which adds heated front seats with a memory function for the driver and paddle shifters behind the heated steering wheel, in addition to other features.

Set to go on sale on October 31 in the United Kingdom, Skoda is asking a minimum of £38,970 (equaling $47,921) for the entry-level Enyaq 60, which uses a 176 hp (179 ps/132 kW) motor. The 85 version starts from £44,540 ($54,770), and the 85x is offered from £48,605 ($59,769). The range-topping Enyaq vRS will also launch at the end of the month, and it has a starting price of £53,120 ($65,321).

This model is 40 hp (41 ps/30 kW) punchier than its predecessor, enjoying a total of 335 hp (340 ps/250 kW). It is one second quicker to 62 mph (100 kph), with the sprint taking 5.5 seconds, and this makes it Skoda's fastest-ever accelerating production car. The range was also improved by 16 miles (26 km) for the Coupe and 15 miles (24 km) for the SUV, and they can do 340 miles (547 km) with the 77 kWh battery fully charged.
