The first thing most people think of when hearing about a 1969 GTO is the famous Judge. While I don't deny that a Judge in tip-top shape is a fantastic car, the 1969 model year also brought rarer GTOs that have become a collector's dream.
For example, the rarest GTO produced in 1969 was the convertible fitted with the Ram Air IV and an automatic transmission. Pontiac produced only 14 examples, so good luck finding one today.

The 1969 GTO convertible in these photos is a true 242 goat, checking many boxes for a restoration candidate. It's a fantastic project, and trust me when I say that I don't even know where to start to tell you how great it is.

I won't insist on the obvious because you can check out its condition by browsing the photos in the gallery, but this GTO convertible looks solid without heavy rust damage or missing parts.

However, there are several things you must know before sending an offer.

First, this GTO rolled off the assembly lines painted in Mayfair Maize (code 40), so the finish it wears today is not original. eBay seller businessjetclassifieds says the GTO was purchased from a local sheriff's auction two years ago, but the restoration work never started. It means that a previous owner changed the convertible's color, though the buyer will have to respray the paint considering its current condition.

The GTO comes with a 400 V8, and the fantastic news is that it still runs today. It's unclear if this convertible received any engine work, but a good mechanic should be able to figure out everything with an in-person inspection. The V8 is paired with an automatic transmission. The GTO rolled off the assembly lines with factory air conditioning, but it's unclear if it still works today or if the system is complete.

The owner explains on eBay that they are selling the GTO because they want to give up on their classic car collection. It's time to turn the page, they claim, suggesting that more vehicles could hit the WWW shortly.

Meanwhile, this GTO is a fantastic opportunity to own a 1969 convertible. It won't sell cheaply, as the owner expects to get $35,000 for the car. They didn't enable the Make Offer button, so the price is firm.

If you want to see this GTO convertible in mission (which you should do before committing to a purchase, especially given the hefty price tag), you can find it parked in Buckhead, Georgia. The listing will expire in 27 days, but considering that 14 people are already watching it (possibly discussing a deal), you should hurry up to contact the owner. You'll probably need a trailer to take it home despite the running engine.
