What’s 7’11” and can fit into the tiniest car around? The answer is NBA legend and all-around businessman Shaquille O’Neal, who clearly puts more emphasis on practicality than he does on personal comfort.
The video available at the bottom of the page shows Shaq’s current / favorite vehicle for personal transportation. We’re all used to seeing celebrities ride in flashy, oversize, occasionally pimped-out rides, but this is nothing like that: despite his impressive size, this particular star drives around in a smart fortwo.
TMZ says that Shaq was in town for a “Steady app event” that took place in Manhattan. Because everyone knows traffic in the Big Apple can be terrible, he chose the best car to get around in heavy traffic: a smart EQ fortwo. Even the paparazzo pestering him with questions was shocked to see such a big guy squeeze and then actually drive off in such an unexpected ride.
For the record, Shaq’s love of tiny cars is hilariously documented. He was first spotted in a smart way back in 2008, but as the same media outlet notes, “he was a lot thinner back then and the car had no top.”
Then, 2 years ago, O’Neal and John Cena tried to get into a smart for Carpool Karaoke, the series. After some struggling for both to fit in (the question of comfort didn’t even compute in this scenario), they both concluded they needed a bigger car and abandoned the challenge.
However, when he’s alone, Shaq fits in just fine or, at the very least, well enough to be able to drive. Sure, the steering wheel sits right between his knees and he probably can’t make very ample movements, but as long as it’s safe and he is able to beat traffic, who cares about personal comfort. Certainly not him.
