SEAT Alhambra Is Carbuyer’s Best Large MPV

SEAT’s new Alhambra seven-seater MPV can now hold its head up a little higher, as it is the proud recipient of the Best Large MPV trophy from Carbuyer.co.uk. This is only the latest in a long list of awards won in Europe. Just a few months from its market launch, the seven-seat SEAT has picked up multiple trophies in Portugal, Germany and in the UK, where earlier this year What Car? named it their MPV of the year.

“With a clever seven-seat interior and a large boot, the SEAT Alhambra is all the MPV you’ll ever need!As our careful deliberations revealed, the car is spacious and practical inside, and thanks to a range of Volkswagen-sourced engines it’s incredibly fuel-efficient.  All diesel engines are equipped with Stop/Start systems, which cut the engine when the vehicle is stationary to save fuel.,” explains Carbuyer editor Dan Strong.

In the UK, it is available in four trim levels and a choice of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. All engines can be paired with either six-speed manual or DSG auto, which offers the extra flexibility of sequential manual operation via the standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

Standard equipment includes sliding rear doors (optionally available with electric operation), fuel-saving Stop/Start and Brake Energy Recovery systems, integrated Bluetooth hands-free phone connection, three-zone climate control and front and rear parking sensors.

Dan Strong presented the award to SEAT President James Muir and SEAT UK Managing Director Peter Wyhinny at the recent Geneva Motor Show.

Mr Wyhinny said: "The astonishing success of the new Alhambra clearly underlines SEAT’s ongoing commitment to excellence.  This prestigious award from CarBuyer.co.uk is the latest in an impressive line-up of trophies for our car and I’m very happy that it obviously struck such a chord with the judges."
