As far as SEAT is concerned, the Alhambra MPV is one of the most important vehicles in its product lineup, although sales figures aren't exactly supporting the car in the race with the other SEAT models. But the Alhambra was recently voted the "MPV of the Year" by panel members of the "Car of the Year – Crystal Steering Wheel Trophy" in Portugal, an achievement that makes SEAT fully proud of its model.
"Once again, the Spanish model’s impressive credentials received the highest praise, comfortably outscoring established rivals like the Ford Galaxy C-Max, the Opel Meriva and Volkswagen’s Sharan. This new distinction is further proof of the new Alhambra’s quality, flexibility and outstanding value for money, three factors that make it the benchmark model of its segment," SEAT said in a press statement.
This is not the first time when SEAT earns an award at the "Car of the Year – Crystal Steering Wheel Trophy". In 2009, the Spanish manufacturer's Ibiza was selected as the "Most Wanted Vehicle" while last year the Ibiza Cupra was named the "Sporty Compact of the Year".
The Alhambra was earlier this month upgraded with a permanent all-wheel drive system for increased traction and stability, with sales of the new model to begin this summer.
“Thanks to the sophisticated design of its carefully tuned chassis, the SEAT Alhambra stays true to the spirit of the brand by delivering a surprising level of sporty driving fun – something not usually associated with MPVs. Yet the Alhambra’s dynamism doesn’t come at the expense of long-distance comfort,” stated the official press release.
