Seat Alhambra 4WD to Debut in Geneva

Presented back at the beginning of February as the most potent MPV in the Spanish manufacturer's line-up, the Alhambra all-wheel drive is getting ready to meet its possible future customers at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show this week. When it finally makes it into dealerships later this summer, the Alhambra will come packing a 2.0l TDI engine, which develops 140 ps. The unit comes linked to a six-speed manual transmission which allows the engine to propel the vehicle to a top speed of 119 mph (191 km/h), doing at the same time the naught to sixty sprint in a very MPVish 11.4 seconds. To add to the uniqueness of the model in the Alhambra line up, the Spanish auto maker will be offering later in the year an 8-seat version of the MPV, with the seats configured in a 2+2+2 arrangement. For now, however, the Alhambra will only come in two configurations, a five or six seater version. The model has been created, for now, only for mainland Europe. A right-hand-drive version for the very Seat-loving UK customers might or might not be launched, says Seat. The prices for the model have not yet been announced, but we reckon they will be in line with both the expectations of the customers and the expectations of several European markets, which have selected it as MPV of the year. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
