The advent of personal electric watercraft has marked a significant shift in water recreation, giving riders a more sustainable, agile, and graceful way to have fun on the water. Searider, a young Monaco-based electric powersport company, wants to enter the PWC market and revolutionize the sector with some futuristic electric jet skis that take design cues from the world of motorcycles and scooters.
The startup has introduced two new electric jet skis at the ongoing boot Düsseldorf trade fair, offering a glimpse into the future of water sports. The first one is called Seacruiser and boasts a curvy front bodywork inspired by vintage scooters, while the second model is called Searacer and is touted as a fully electric motorbike for the water. Both are true eye-catchers and have been designed to deliver unique sensations of adrenaline-pumping fun on the water.

The retro-inspired Seacruiser reminisces of an old Vespa scooter with its elegant, timeless style. It boasts a sit-atop design and is light, comfortable, and easy to handle, with a total weight of just 70 kg (154 pounds). In terms of power, it is equipped with dual electric motors outputting a total of 30 hp (22 kW). The personal water cruiser promises a top speed of 55 kph (34 mph), while the battery should offer an autonomy of up to 90 minutes.

The Searacer is the sportiest model in Searider’s range, and the company itself calls it a “motorcycle of the seas.” That's because it is designed to offer the best of both worlds: the sharp, nimble handling of a motorbike and the instant acceleration of an all-electric jet ski.

In terms of looks, this sleek on-water motorbike comes with a more angular design characterized by sharp lines and a low center of gravity. It tips the scales at a fraction of even the lightest ICE-powered watercraft - a mere 65 kg (143 pounds) - which makes it one of the lightest in its category.

This model takes power from two jet drives that deliver up to 45 hp (33 kW). Each drive is fed by its own removable battery, each plugged in on the left and right side under the seat. The battery pack is said to last for up to 50 minutes of ride time.

These power figures combined with the sleek hull and lightweight design will allow the Searacer to lift out of the water like a water ski when you accelerate and zip through the waves at speeds of up to 77 kph (48 mph), which is plenty fast for an electric jet.

The startup managed to achieve these impressive figures by taking inspiration from scooters and motorcycles to create light and compact body shells for its PWC and by capitalizing on the sleek, versatile nature of electric powertrain technology.

Searider is already taking pre-orders for the Seacruiser and Searacer, for €22,800 and €27,950, respectively (approx. $24,750 and $30,325). Both electric watercraft are available in three different colors (red, cream, and light blue for the Seacruiser, and white, silver, and blue for the Searacer). The two electric jet skis are expected to be available from summer 2024, and the company plans to introduce a third model, named the Seacross, later this year.
