Ford’s current (T6) generation of the midsize Ranger pickup truck hasn’t been around for too long in the United States. Even so, the usual suspects for ramping up the capability of the Blue Oval pickup have jumped at the chance of creating the perfect rig.
Let’s take Roush Performance as an example, since the company recently introduced a new upgrade for the 2019-2020 Ford Ranger. The aftermarket specialists have been diligently working on enhancing the capabilities of the F-150's smaller sibling for a while now. During this time, they bestowed upon the model some neat things such as a Fox suspension kit or a cat-back exhaust system.

With the Roush “Standard Package” on top of a 2020 Ford Ranger (XLT) equipped with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, the pickup truck looked ready, willing, and rugged enough for “life’s adventures.” But Roush Performance noticed there was something missing from the encompassing setup: a bit more oomph for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost on top of the factory’s 270 horsepower.

No worries, because the Roush Ranger Performance Pac - Level 2 takes to the stage to add “47 rear-wheel horsepower over stock.” The company claims it’s the best way to unlock a Ranger’s “maximum potential, giving it a sportier driving feel and increased power output.”

The setup not only adds 47 whp but also improves airflow and includes highlights such as a Cold Air Kit, a larger (washable) performance air filter, high-performance mapping for increased torque, and better throttle response.

According to the company, the OEM CAD approach to designing the new performance package will ensure that everything will nestle in like a charm in the Ranger’s engine bay. Meanwhile, all off-roading credentials (including the water fording capability) have been maintained according to factory specification.

Better yet, the Dual-Tip Cat-Back exhaust system is also included in the mix and the “oil-less air filter with a transparent lid produces a soundtrack of sheer turbo performance.” The Level 2 tuning upgrade is a mere $1,830 and comes with free shipping, as well as a 3-year/36,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.
