If the Lamborghini Urus had a soul, then it would probably have bad dreams involving the Ferrari Purosangue and Aston Martin DBX 707. You know, the kind of dreams where it cannot take a proper swing at them.
If the latest information is correct, then it will add another name to that list: the Corvette SUV. Well, in theory, it will be a crossover, as it wouldn't feature a body-on-frame construction, complete with long-travel suspension and a low-range gearbox. However, it should be punchy enough to knock out the S and Performante versions of the Sant'Agata Bolognese marque's high-rider and the upcoming PHEV, too.

The bowtie brand has plenty of powertrains that could grace the engine bay of the supposed high-riding 'Vette, yet it looks like dead dinosaurs won't power it. Instead, the automaker could give it battery-electric power. The model is expected to use GM's Ultium platform, which would inevitably tie it to the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Escalade IQ, Chevy Blazer EV, and other models, featuring the 800-volt technology and rapid charging up to 350 kW.

Details surrounding the electric motors are yet unknown, but insiders claim that it will feature high-output units, as well as a fancy two-speed transmission. The model is understood to pack an electric all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering for improved cornering at high speeds and reduced turning radius at low speeds. Ensuring optimal performance will supposedly be an advanced software, and there have been talks about a unique cooling system, too.

When is it due? The latest rumors speak about a potential market launch in 2025 as a 2026 model year. We expect to see the first prototypes doing their thing in the open sometime next year. Since it would be an extremely important product for GM, which will reportedly turn the Corvette nameplate into a sub-brand, it might be previewed by a concept car, presumably with some out-of-this-world features that won't make their way to the production variant.

The rendering world has had a few attempts at imagining the Corvette SUV, and we think these digital illustrations that came from Auto Om TV on YouTube are the most exciting yet. They portray the model as having two doors, a face inspired by the C8 Corvette lineup, complete with similar-styled headlights, a back-end design that would make super crossovers jealous, fat front fenders, muscular shoulders, a large diffuser, and a raked rear windscreen.

Did you notice the four tailpipes at the rear? They suggest that it packs internal combustion power under the hood, though, as we already told you, chances are it will be a battery-electric vehicle. Still, do you dig the look, and do you think it might be capable of scaring the Bejesus out of the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus?
