Renault has expanded the Scenic E-Tech family in the United Kingdom by introducing a new entry-level version. It is called the Scenic E-Tech Comfort Range and is now available for order.
Sitting below the Techno Comfort Range, Techno Long Range, Esprit Alpine Long Range, and Iconic Long Range, the new Renault Scenic E-Tech Comfort Range features a 170 ps (168 hp/125 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque electric motor, down from the Techno Long Range's 217 ps (214 hp/160 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft).
The autonomy has also dropped to 418 km (260 miles) on the WLTP cycle from 610 km (379 km). This is because instead of an 87 kWh battery, the latest entry to the lineup comes with a 60 kWh unit. The performance is decent for a family-oriented crossover, as it takes 8.6 seconds (down from 7.9 sec in the previous base model) to hit 100 kph (62 mph). The top speed is 150 kph (93 mph), down from 170 kph (106 mph).
According to French car manufacturer, the 2024 Scenic E-Tech Comfort Range benefits from the same equipment as its superior sibling. Some of the gizmos include the LED front and rear lights, 19-inch diamond-cut alloys, flush-mounted door handles, shark fin antenna, flush roof rails, electric side mirrors with integrated puddle lights and a few other bits and bobs that still make it an appealing proposal in the segment.
Moving to the cabin, users will see a 12-inch infotainment system with Google Services. Thus, stuff such as the Google Playstore, Google Assistant, Google Maps, and so on are on deck. It also features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, ambient lighting, automatic air conditioning, a wireless smartphone charging pad, an electro-chromatic rearview mirror with a frameless design, heated seats (front) and steering wheel, and an electrically-operated tailgate.
In the safety department, the new Renault Scenic E-Tech Comfort Range comes with a reversing camera, lane departure warning, distance warning alert, front and rear parking sensors, driver attention warning, traffic sign recognition, lane centering, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, active emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and intelligent adaptive cruise control.
On-the-road pricing for this model starts at £37,495 (equal to $47,510). The superior Techno Long Range is a £40,995 ($51,944) affair in the United Kingdom. For the Esprit Alpine Long Range and Iconic Long Range versions of the car, interested parties will have to pay at least £43,495 ($55,112) and £45,495 ($57,646), respectively.
By comparison, the slightly larger Tesla Model Y RWD, which needs 6.6 sec from zero to 100 kph (62 mph), tops out at 217 kph (135 mph) and has a 455 km (283 miles) range, kicks off from £44,490 ($56,373) in the UK.
