Renault is expanding its range of motorsport-ready vehicles, with the introduction of the Megane RS N4 model, a Group N contender.

The vehicle uses a Cosworth Electronics engine management system for the 2.0 liter 16v turbocharged engine that also features a 33mm flange. The unit delivers 270 hp and 470 Nm, offering an output premium of 20 hp and 130 Nm compared to the Standard Megane RS. The engine is mated to a Sadev five-speed transmission and is assisted by a limited slip differential.

The vehicle also comes with a weight reduction program that allows enhanced performance in all areas, including acceleration, braking and handling.

The list of tech goodies includes upgrades for the suspension and the braking system. The racer comes with the independent front suspension of the series model, adding an Ohlins system that comes with three-way adjustable shock absorbers.

The braking system comes with Brembo discs (355 mm at the front and 290 mm at the rear). The vehicle rides on 18-inch rims wrapped in BFGoodrich tires.

As the first manufacturer to have been granted homologation for cars in each of the Group R classes, Renault Sport Technologies continues the development of its line-up, with the announcement of the forthcoming arrival of Megane R.S. N4. This new model completes the range which currently consists of Twingo Renault Sport R1 and R2, and Clio Renault Sport R3 ‘Access’, ‘Maxi’ and ‘Evo’,” stated the press release.

The Renault Megane RS N4 is ready for the 2011 season.
