Rare Porsche cars took over the streets of New York City, painting them purple in anticipation of the 2024 Met Gala, the fashion's biggest night out. The all-electric Macan led the way as the event's first official electric car. The VIP guests were the first outside Porsche to experience the zero-emission crossover.
The rare Porsche cars paraded through the Big Apple, showing off the exclusive participants, which were several vehicles from the Ingram Family collection. The Viola Purple Metallic 2024 911 Dakar, a 2023 GT3 RS, and a 2019 911 Speedster in the historic Porsche purple, famously known as the Vesuvio, were among them. However, the 1978 911 Safari in lilac played the part of the eye-catcher of the convoy.

The rally started on 50th Street in Manhattan and proceeded to iconic landmarks of New York City such as Rockefeller Center on 5th Avenue. The cars then marched down lanes such as Cristopher Street, and the parade came to an end in front of Soho House on 9th Avenue.

But it was all for a reason. It is the brand's first large-scale fashion involvement in the United States. The Porsche Macan was in the spotlight as the 2024 Met Gala Official Electric Vehicle.

On the fashion's biggest night out, the EV offered rides to select guests of the gala. They were the very first to experience the all-electric Macan, riding to and from the must-attend event on board the model.

The celebration went on at the Soho House New York with an event hosted by actor Barry Keoghan and a star-studded affair, with a special live performance by British singer-songwriter RAYE.

At the Soho House, the Macan EV showed up in an Electric Garden art installation, inspired by the dress code of this year's event, "The Garden of Time."

We are not told which versions Porsche sent to this year’s Met Gala, but they had three options to choose from. The entry-level Macan EV comes with 402 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque with Launch Control activated. This one can drive as far as 381 miles (613 kilometers) on a single charge.

The Turbo version sports 630 horsepower and 833 pound-feet of torque and 14 miles (22 kilometers) less before it needs to be plugged in again.

The Macan Ev is 188.3 inches (4,784 millimeters) long, 76.2 inches (1,938 millimeters) wide, and 63.8 inches (1,622 millimeters), while the wheelbase measures 113.8 inches (2,893 millimeters), which translates to generous space on board for the VIP guests.

We don't know, however, how Lewis Hamilton got to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the event. What we do know is that he had a blast in the Mercedes-AMG GT R before the Miami Grand Prix with supermodel Kylie Jenner on board.
