If you're looking to add an extraordinary race car to your garage, this might be your day. You're looking at the original 1990 Benson and Hedges Ford Sierra RS500, which raced at Bathurst in Australia back in the day, even managing to set a new qualifying lap record of 2 minutes and 13.84 seconds.
To put things into perspective, this car posted the above mentioned lap time in the early '90s. Just a few years ago, Shane van Gisbergen managed to set a race lap record of 2 minutes and 1.567 seconds in a McLaren 650S GT3. So this would still be fast even by today's standards!

This car only started in 11 races during the period and was further purchased by the Bowden Collection in Queensland back in 1994. It would later be sold to Carey McMahon, who would bring the car back to active duty, by claiming 2nd place in the Heritage Touring Cars Championship in 2016, with a Nissan GT-R coming in 1st.

Further on, the car was recently sent to Europe, where it had a small incident at an event in Portugal, suffering only some panel damage; that was quickly addressed by having them replaced. To address any further issues caused by the passing of almost three decades, the car underwent a full, no-expense spared restoration.

The street-going version of the RS500, which only had less than half of the power of the race car and was produced in just 500 units, as the name states, can still be found on the used cars market for around $100,000. The race car would go on to win series like the Australian Touring Car Championship, the DTM, the Japanese Touring Car Championship, and the BTCC, to name just a few of them.

Given its current condition, the asking price for this vehicle is $340,000, which is not cheap by any standards, but can you really put a price one a piece of automotive history? With an estimated 560 horsepower available by the push of the throttle, this car is sure to impress even the most experienced driver and should not be taken lightly when pushed to its full potential.
