R8 V10 Plus Vs TT RS-R Makes for a Very Close All-Audi 1220 HP Race

The guy in charge of carwow's YouTube channel has been on a roll with his last two entries. Just before the one we're about to talk of, he pitted against each other two V12-powered monsters, only not the kind of monsters you would normally associate with drag racing.

It was an old BMW 760Li and an even older Maybach probably gunning for a brace of titles: the most comfortable drag race and the most luxurious one as well. Now, though, he's brought together two cars that seem a lot more similar but aren't, really.

We're looking at an Audi R8 V10 Plus and a heavily modified Audi TT RS. Starting with the former, it's powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine with 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm). Being a sporty Audi, it sends the power to all four wheels, which is great news given the weather during the race.

Next to the R8 is an ABT-tuned TT RS now called TT RS-R, apparently. The TT RS is a funny little machine that can have you fooled with its cuteness but can bite really hard. The 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged engine develops 400 hp stock, but with the ABT involvement - and some engine tuning from another company called MRC Tuning - it now has the exact same amount of horsepower as the R8 V10 Plus.

The maximum torque, however, is on another level: it's 575 lb-ft (780 Nm) for the smaller car, though it might not come to much use with the track so wet. The TT RS is also obviously the lighter contender and by 440 lbs (200 kg) no less. So, which way do you think this will go? You're probably thinking what I was thinking as well before watching the clip, so I suggest you give it a go and prepare to be entertained.
