After selling just 51 cars through their pilot program in Europe, Qoros has decided to focus only on the Chinese market. However, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy their work. Say hello to the all-new Qoros 5, a larger crossover SUV making its web debut today ahead of the Guangzhou Auto Show in November.
The styling is quite similar to the 3 City SUV. It reminds us of the ill-fated Saab 9-7X. It's especially pleasant to look at from behind, where the hatch has a nice curve à la Porsche Macan. The black lower bumper is further defined by metallic bottom plating, and one exhaust pipe comes out on either side. The new Qoros 5 SUV is created by international Qoros design teams in Shanghai and Munich and is about to end its final engineering testing phase in Granada, Spain, before going on sale in early 2016.

Riding into Guangzhou on 19-inch wheels, the Qoros is technically a crossover that's similar in size to the Hyundai Tucson. We don't have precise numbers for the production model yet, but Chinese media reports the "5" is 4,587 mm long, 1,878 mm wide, and 1,676 mm tall.

Power should come from a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing around 155 horsepower, match to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic. At this time, it's unknown if AWD will be available, but full details should be revealed by early 2016.

"The spirit of independence is the soul of all designs. Milan is a center of science and technology, fashion and innovative products. By making the debut of the new Qoros 5 SUV in the design capital of Europe, we hope to demonstrate our unique pursuit for a design that matches the spirit of the city," said Sun Xiaodong, Qoros Executive Vice President.

For now, Qoros is focused only on the Chinese market, although it has made its intentions to spread its products all over Europe quite clear. For now, only Slovakia hosts a European Qoros dealership. There are also no plans for an RHD configuration either, so the UK, Japan and Australia are out of the question.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
