They call it Bubblegum. But it might as well be Barbie's daily driver. It is actually a jazzy pink Porsche 911 restomod paying tribute to the 993 generation. The car has just made its European debut.
The Porsche, just as you see it looking in these photos, was on display at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was the first-ever show outside the United States for Porsche restoration and customization specialist Gunther Werks.

The 911 993 is a one-of-one commission, sporting a vibrant three-stage pink pearlescent ultra fine metallic paint. By the time you said all that long paint name, you already forgot where you started. That's alright, we'll take you back there. A carbon fiber center stripe and plenty of carbon fiber just about everywhere complete the looks of the Porsche. And by "everywhere," we mean front splitter, bumper intakes, hood stripes, and prominent rear wing. The car runs on five-spoke Fuchs-style wheels.

The wide body kit and LED headlights and taillights bring the 1990s car to the present without altering its DNA.

But wait! There is actually more to it than this head-turning, eye-damaging color. Gunther Werks' first right-hand drive commission is a Porsche 993 coupe restored, ordered by a British Customer. It is GW's manner of celebrating its official debut in the UK and European markets. It is the first time Bubblegum sets wheels outside American soil.

If you expect the pink them to continue on board this Porsche, well, you were right. There are carbon fiber bucket seats and a three-spoke steering wheel in Alcantara with contrasting pink stitching. Black leather covers the dashboard. The original instrument cluster with five round clocks, four in black and one in white (the tachometer), kept its ground.

Bubblegum comes with a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. In its naturally aspirated form, the power unit develops 430 horsepower (435 PS), but it seems that we're dealing with a turbocharged version, all sent to the rear axle. But Gunther Werks has built a reputation for offering high-performance vehicles. They would not have left the engine untouched. So we’re counting on some extra oomph this time as well.

Bubblegum was not the only car that the company crossed the Atlantic Ocean with, to show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past week. The California-based specialist also an orange Porsche to the Project Tornado to the event as well. The Project Tornado is also on its European debut. But we know for sure that this one gets 700 horsepower (710 PS).

No word on the pricing just yet. But considering how much Gunther Werks worked on customizing it, it might be just as… strident as this Porsche is.
