Driven by a desire to streamline and simplify their lives, many people decide to downsize to a smaller home that helps them reduce their living costs, achieve more freedom and flexibility, and form a deeper connection with nature. Tiny houses like the Paradise Paddock park model provide all these benefits and more to those who long for a simpler life without renouncing comfort.
In the world of tiny living, park model homes are becoming increasingly popular as they offer more openness, spaciousness, overall comfort, and storage solutions than regular tiny houses on wheels. Moreover, park models are classified as recreational vehicles, so they are portable and can be picked up and moved whenever you want to change the scenery. And you will probably find far more options for where you can park it, whether seasonally or permanently.

As RVs, park model homes must be built professionally to ANSI code, meaning that they often offer higher quality than most tiny homes. This makes them the perfect choice for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of contemporary cities while still enjoying the comfort of a modern lifestyle.

The Paradise Paddock is a custom unit designed and crafted by Acorn Tiny Homes, a Toronto, Canada-based builder of tiny homes that has been around since 2021. Founded by D'Arcy McNaughton, an engineer with a mission - that of making people's tiny living dreams come true, the company has built some of the most beautiful and artistic models we've seen.

The new park model home measures a massive 38 feet long and 10.6 feet wide and demonstrates yet again that tiny living doesn't have to mean sacrificing comfort and style. It is designed for year-long living with a wood-framed construction and spray-foamed insulation and redefines compact living with its spacious layout, excellent craftsmanship, and premium features.

Built on a triple-axle trailer, this unit boasts an elegant, modern design with its exterior clad in a combination of standing seam metal complemented by faux stone skirting. Plenty of natural light makes its way inside this house, as the builder included no less than 13 energy-efficient windows, a classic craftsman main entrance door, plus a secondary door leading to a future covered patio.

The stylish and thoughtfully designed interior offers no less than 436 square feet of space. With such an impressive size, you might be tempted to think this is a family-friendly home. It's not, as the client only requested one bedroom. This tiny home is meant to accommodate two people permanently, though it can sleep up to four with a convertible sofa in the living room.

The layout includes a living room, a full kitchen, a pass-through bathroom, a ground-floor bedroom, and a storage loft. Each of these spaces is incredibly spacious and crafted with great attention to detail. Designed with a modern farmhouse vibe, the interior boasts some timberwork with white oak and fir features, as well as shoshugibon finishes throughout, all of which give it a rustic touch.

Plenty of functional and luxurious features make this home one of a kind, and they stand out even from the moment you step inside. A mudroom entrance with generous show and coat storage prevents mud, dirt, and snow from trekking into the house and ensures a clutter-free living space.

This entrance door leads into the commodious and bright living room, which is fitted with a comfy L-shaped sofa, a wall-mounted TV, and a gas fireplace with a wood mantle and integrated storage. Besides its functional role, the fireplace adds warmth and charm to the space, making it a perfect spot for cozying up in front of the TV with a hot cuppa.

The huge kitchen inside this house is stunning. It occupies the center of the Paradise Paddock and has an L-shape design that maximizes counter space and allows the integration of a neat breakfast bar. There are over 24 square feet of countertop, and a fold-down extension adds even more meal prep space.

A myriad of base and upper cabinets plus a pull-out pantry provide storage space for all your kitchen essentials, while modern appliances ensure contemporary functionality. The cook of the family will be able to make use of a Furrion three-burner gas oven range, a convection microwave/hood combo, a dishwasher, a full-size refrigerator, and a ceramic farmhouse sink. A staircase leading up to the loft offers additional storage space integrated into each step.

Next up is the pass-through bathroom, which boasts an all-white design and is fitted with a glass-enclosed 36" tiled shower, a flush toilet, a large vanity sink, a mirrored medicine cabinet, and a stackable washer/dryer unit.

The master bedroom downstairs is incredibly spacious and looks just like a room inside a traditional house. It includes a double bed with integrated storage flanked by windows that make the room bright and airy. A built-in dresser with plenty of large drawers and a separate two-door closet offer storage space for clothes and other personal items. Open wooden shelves add extra space for books, plants, and decor items.

The only loft inside this home is spacious and luminous. The client decided to use it as storage space, but it could very well be configured as a private secondary bedroom. A clever design trick is that the loft does not lie above the downstairs bedroom but above the bathroom, meaning that the main sleeping space still gets high vaulted ceilings, which make the room appear larger than it actually is and enhance its natural light.

Another important thing to note about the Paradise Paddock is that it has been designed with the owner's cat in mind. The tiny home includes features meant to make tiny living a pleasant experience for the pet, with hidden storage for kitty litter, a locking cat door for indoor/outdoor patio access, a loft crawl-through, and a mantle pass-through. All of these features have been cleverly and naturally integrated into the design.

The Paradise Paddock cost a whopping CAD $230,000 to build, which translates to US$166,750 at current exchange rates. It might not be up everyone's alley, but it is definitely a testament to Acorn Tiny Homes' commitment to building quality living spaces and could also serve as inspiration for anyone looking to design their own dream home on wheels.
