Did you know that the food on your table right now was probably delivered to your local grocery store with nothing more than an 18-wheeler? Well, some of the drivers in those trucks are living it up in style, and one crew responsible for some of America's most attractive rigs is Bolt.
Folks, the name Bolt Custom Trucks and Manufacturing is bound to sound familiar; we've covered their work over the course of my history at autoevolution. Well, this time around, I've decided to shed light on a different type of 18-wheeler they focus on: expedite trucks.

What's an expedite truck? Honestly, I come from a family of drivers of big rigs, and I, too, wasn't familiar with the term. An expedite truck is nothing more than a rig that is designed to carry the most precious cargo at a whim's notice. Often, these rigs are owner-operated, and the hunt for constant on-road contracts is a real struggle.

Considering these drivers often spend their time roaming from one destination to the next - downtimes are a real problem, too - operators often use their rigs as nothing more than a house on wheels. So, teams like Bolt ensure that the lifeblood of America has everything it needs to keep trudging forward.

Now, if you remember the work that Bolt achieves for America's truckers, you know that this crew doesn't mess around; their works often rival or even surpass what some of North America's RV manufacturers can spit out. If you're an owner-operator of a mile-crunching big rig, this one's for you.

First and foremost, it's important to note that Bolt is the sort of crew that crafts everything in-house, and to do that, they'll take your truck, strip it down to its chassis, and then drop a fully integrated and custom sleeper on top of it. This also means that you'll be a part of the building process every step of the way; after all, that's what custom means.

As I mentioned, Bolt has the ability to take all of the comforts of an RV, heck, a home, and pack them all into the cubicles we see. One major difference is the fact that Bolt is very keen on using aluminum and, with it, crafts the body of this unit and the interior cabinetry, too.

For starters, take a nice long look at the images in the gallery and really let what you see sink in. Once you do, come back to the text to get a feel for what we see and some of the things we don't.

The process of getting your dream sleeper starts off with nothing more than you calling up Bolt and telling them you like what you saw here. From there, you begin your journey of dotting the Is, crossing Ts, and dishing out the cash needed to bring your rolling home to life.

Once your shell is up and standing, Bolt them goes to work throwing in all the goodies you asked for. Now, remember, these trucks are often used for long-term living, and that means all the comforts of home. Well, that's exactly what we get. As you noticed, the images display everything from a galley block, dinette, bedding, wardrobe, and even complete wet baths.

As I explored what Bolt showcases on their website - it clearly isn't the full extent of their work as some operators were sure to turn down a national-level peek into their home - I won't lie; I fell in love with a couple of the units.

One of my favorite results is that all-black sleeper with some wooden accents here and there. There's just something about a backdrop of black with touches of nature here and there. One area where the design really shines through is at the galley where we find a cooktop, sink and tap, oven overhead, and all the cabinetry you'd need to store whatever your meal plan has in store.

Once you've cooked up your favorite meal, turn to your right, set it down on the dinette table, and take your seat at the table; maybe you're sharing it with a guest this time. Just be sure not to press any buttons or release latches, as this space doubles as a bedroom later in the day. There's a wet bath here, too, but it's just not visible in the images.

Oh, and while the rear bedding layout is the most popular, according to the manufacturer's website, other layouts exist, too; you can ditch the double bed for a split single option. Other possibilities are sure to exist, so let Bolt know, and maybe they can work it out for you.

As for some of the things we can't see, Bolt places an Onan generator into your sleeper, along with a roof-mounted AC unit and all the tanks and wiring needed to ensure everything is ready when you need it. There are no specific details because each of these babies is custom-made to order. I wonder if there's any point in adding solar panels to your rig.

If you're wondering why and how Bolt is able to spin up such units, let me remind you that this team also has a history of creating some rather amazing RVs and motor coaches. I've added an image or two to show you just what they're capable of. Looking to take your big rig to the next level in terms of on-road living readiness? Bolt must be on your to-consider list.
