Opel Creates First 3D Auto Ad for Meriva

It was only a matter of time until the 3D frenzy stepped into the automotive industry too, so here it is, the first commercial in 3D created by Opel. The new Opel Meriva plays the leading role in the advertising spot which, according to the German manufacturer, will be screened in theaters around the world before Shrek 4 and Toy Story 3, both of them available in 3D.

The commercial is already available online, so you can watch it just after the jump (don't forget that you need the special 3D glasses to fully benefit of the 3D effects). And speaking of 3D glasses, Opel is giving away free pairs for the spot to be viewed online. All you need to do is to contact the local Opel dealership, the company said in a press statement.

“The Meriva 3-D special is one further way we can show off the incredible creativity of the Opel brand. We wanted to introduce such an innovative vehicle as the new Meriva in an equally innovative way,” says Michael Hartwig, Executive Director, Brand Marketing for Opel/Vauxhall.

The Meriva comes in three equipment levels: Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo. In standard, Opel offers a lot of safety features like ESP, front airbags, side and curtain airbags, seat belt reminders front and rear, front seat belt force limiters and pretensioners, adaptive brake lights, the Opel Pedal Release System as well as ISOFIX for rear outer seats. It has an engine line-up comprising three gasoline and two diesel units, ranging from 55 kW/75 hp to 103 kW/140 hp. All the new Meriva engines comply with Euro 5 emissions standards.
