2011 Opel Meriva Exceeds 30,000 Pre-Orders

The new Meriva is on a good start, as Opel announced today it has already hit more than 30,000 orders throughout Europe. However, the small MPV will be launched on the German market only on June 12, 2010, with prices starting at 15,900 euros.

According to Opel, about 50,000 Merivas are planned to be sold throughout Europe during 2010, while in its first full sales year, 2011, it expects sales of up to 130,000 vehicles.

“We have never had such an impressive response to a vehicle in this segment,”
Alain Visser, Vice President Sales, Marketing & Aftersales Opel/Vauxhall, said in a release. “This is shown not only by the large number of orders, but also by the first analyses of the customer and media response. The new Meriva’s design and its innovative concept obviously satisfy the tastes of customers.”

The 2011 Opel Meriva has an engine line-up comprising three gasoline and two diesel units, ranging from 55 kW/75 hp to 103 kW/140 hp. All the new Meriva engines comply with Euro 5 emissions standards.

The new Meriva spotlights FlexDoors, ergonomic front seats, a FlexSpace rear seat system and integrated FlexFix bicycle carrier.

The Meriva comes in three equipment levels: Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo. In standard, Opel offers a lot of safety features like ESP, front airbags, side and curtain airbags, seat belt reminders front and rear, front seat belt force limiters and pretensioners, adaptive brake lights, the Opel Pedal Release System as well as ISOFIX for rear outer seats.
