Nissan’s very own Volkswagen Golf will arrive next year, the company’s product planning chief Andy Palmer revealed earlier this week.
According to Palmer, Nissan’s Golf competitor will go on sale in 2014 and will show up looking “more provocative” that Volkswagen’s small family car.

“We’ll start by not making any excuses for our car – in terms of dynamics and perceived quality it has to match it. But where we can be different is that it won’t look like the Golf. We can go after customers bored with the MkVII. We can be more provocative – that’s the advantage of the guys that come afterwards,” Palmer said.

Furthermore, Nissan’s product chief unveiled that the unnamed Golf rival will sport a few styling cues already seen on the Invitation Concept showcased in Geneva last year. “The face is a little bit leftfield, a little bit edgy. You can see what we have been doing recently with the V-grille going into the hood. And we can that take that DNA into the handling,” he added.

The new Nissan vehicle will be built in Spain and while no further details have been revealed, once can assume it will be revealed to the public at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled in September.
