Swedish suspension guru Öhlins announces a very cool upgrade for the pre-2013 Ducati Multistrada touring machines: a new Suspension Control Unit or SCU, which will grant the older bikes the same cool suspension like the 2013 models have.
The 2013 verison of the Multistrada sports the "Skyhook" semi-active suspension from Sachs, but now the owners of older Multistrada 1200 S can get their fair share of high-tech suspension with less money. The upgrade is extremely easy, as riders only have to place the plug and play SCU instead of the existing ECU under the seat of their rides. Voila!
Upon selecting the riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban or Enduro) the new SCU will start monitoring the suspension and choose the best settings for a smooth ride with max grip. Öhlins Product Manager Peter Andersson claims the new SCU offers almost twice the the adjustment range compared to the stock system.
So if you, owners of 2010-2012 Multistrada, used to weep because of the new Skyhook suspensions and made endless calculations involving forking out big bucks for some dramatic suspension replacement, weep no more: the new Öhlins SCU will be available from this month, for an expected price around €300 ($390). Sachs, your move!
