It’s been less than 24 hours since our photographers spotted the next-generation Audi Q7 being tested in Germany, and a new report claims the SUV has been delayed for an “emergency redesign”.
The last minute redesign will reportedly cost the German company no less than $260 million (€195 million) and delay the vehicle’s launch for an unknown period of time. The reason behind this sudden decision? It looks like the new SUV’s original design was deemed “too brutal and ostentatious”.
Little else is known about the new Q7’s design, but we figure it will sport the company’s Matrix LED headlamps and a Q3-like front grille. As we previously noted, the new Q7 will use aluminum and carbon reinforced plastic for a 350-kilogram diet and a new platform that will be shared with the next-gen Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, as well as the future, yet unnamed Bentley SUV.
