With the refreshed Equus, Accent and Elantra already underway, Korean automaker Hyundai is looking to update the Genesis full-size and the Sonata mid-size sedans for the 2015 model year.
According to Automotive News, a second-generation Genesis is scheduled to debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January and go on sales in second quarter 2014, while the Sonata will get a redesign and some interior and ride improvements for the 2015 model year.

Besides getting new sheet metal and a reworked interior, the 2015 Genesis will become the first Hyundai vehicle to offer all-wheel drive, while the current 3.8-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines will be carrier over. As for the Sonata, the new mid-size sedan will benefit from the company’s new design language and will sport a re-engineered platform for better handling and steering.

In addition, Hyundai is also working on a rear-wheel drive sedan that would compete with BMW’s 3 Series model. No details are known at the time of writing, but our source claims the new vehicle should arrive in 2016.
