After an excellent period of activity that introduced its extensive base of enthusiasts to stuff like the refreshed Giulia and Stelvio, the first-ever Tonale compact crossover SUV, and some special editions, Alfa Romeo is back to laying dormant.
Of course, there's also the reborn Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale sports car that will be produced not by the Stellantis subsidiary but rather by the experienced Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera in strictly limited numbers. But the 33-unit production is so exclusive that too few people worldwide will ever get to enjoy the model featuring Giulia Quadrifoglio's 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or an all-electric powertrain option.

As such, don't count on that as a true novelty but rather as a role model to follow when trying to stand out in any crowd. Well, as it turns out, some people take this kind of invitation by hard and strive to innovate even when the OEM doesn't want to. For example, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is hardly interested in what Alfa's corner office head honchos wish to do.

Thus, if they feel like playing with any of Alfa Romeo's prized possessions, they take matters into their hands – or rather, at the tip of their CGI brushes – and never look back. Such was the case recently with the good folks over at the REC Trends channel on YouTube, who seek to be trendy with the latest automotive news corroborated with AI-assisted CGI design projects.

Their resident pixel master and the host think that Alfa Romeo will dare to completely redesign the next-generation Stelvio in a way unlike anything else they have done before – with slimmer headlights, a closed-off grille, vertical LED DRLs, and a quirky triangle-shaped full-width LED taillight treatment. However, the most significant novelty is one stemming from Stellantis' plans for Alfa Romeo – the next Stelvio iteration will be going fully electric, just like its Giulia cousin.

Naturally, the quirky redesign – which may or may not pan out, even if the new 33 Stradale influenced it, so do take it with a hefty dose of salt – will be supported by an all-new, EV-dedicated platform – aka STLA medium, which is focused on the C/D (compact and mid-size) segments with configurable drivetrains. With it, the Stelvio EV would gain even more performance, starting from around 350 hp in its 'base' configuration to more than 800 ponies for the Quadrifoglio.

Also, the battery packs are rumored to hit the sweet spot in terms of mileage – 100 and 118-kWh options could help the next-gen Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV achieve fully charged ranges of up to 500 miles (805 km), which is a lot more than a competing Tesla Model Y Long Range has to offer currently (330 miles or 531 km). So, would you happily live with a quirky yet feisty Alfa Romeo Stelvio if it also beats the Model Y regarding the EV range?
