From the eighth-million car produced in a German car plant, an unassuming X1 to the mighty XM Label Red, and from the smallest coupe to the quirky i7 limousine, BMW has something for everyone.
Something unique like the BMW M brand of high-performance machines, something quirky like the latest X2, something outrageous like… well, take your pick and insert whatever new model you hate the most, and something 'traditional' like the latest 5 Series – anything goes.

And, of course, everything is set to rival the classic foes – Audi and Mercedes. Just recently, the battle between the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series became so heated they could rival our sun's explosive power – and it's all because the corner-office head-honchos decided the W214 E-Class and the G60 BMW 5 Series should be released back-to-back.

That has led to a precipitation of new variant introductions, and the W214 Mercedes is already out with the sedan, station wagon, and all-terrain version. At the same time, the G60/61 BMWs can be had in saloon, Touring, and all-electric i5 form. That's a nice balance, don't you think?

Well, as it turns out, Mercedes and BMW intend to keep things on a level playing field with the AMG and M GmbH releases, too. As such, we are eagerly waiting for the AMG E 63 S E Performance to measure its electrified forces with the upcoming M5, which is also set to arrive as an M5 Touring plug-in hybrid with brute V8 force under the hood.

Of course, both Mercedes and BMW are taking their time to build hype around their upcoming introductions – which doesn't necessarily bode well for some of the eager fans. No worries, though, as there is always a solution. Albeit, this one perspires from the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – so be sure to take it with a healthy dose of salt.

Anyway, here's Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, who thinks now is the right CGI time to fuel our BMW M5 expectations with new renders based on the latest spy shots. Dressed in an inconspicuous gray shade with contrasting black elements and wheels, this hypothetical vision doesn't stray much from the regular 5 Series and i5. Still, it sure looks a lot more like an American-style muscle sedan than the previous generation.

As for the powertrain, the rumor mill says BMW will keep the V8 powerplant – unlike Mercedes-AMG – and will electrify it to more than 700 horsepower in PHEV form. By the way, just in case you're interested in a quick, unofficial CGI comparison, we also embedded below a hypothetical depiction of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S E Performance from the same author's portfolio.
