Nowadays, everyone around the EV automotive community is talking about Tesla and its larger-than-life Cybertruck when they should discuss how sustainable mobility can become cheaper and available for everyone.
Yes, the Tesla Cybertruck is the next big thing from the American EV automaker, but it's also something that won't be for everyone – not just because of its quirky styling but also due to pricing concerns. In fact, we should talk more about that elusive $25k Tesla than anything else, but it's clear the carmaker wants to bury the project and focus on higher profits from the S, 3, X, and Y, plus the new Cybertruck.

However, they might have to reopen the case soon as at least one legacy automaker has se tits sights on the EV cake. That would be Kia, which alongside Hyundai (Ioniq 5 and 6) or Genesis (GV60, for example), has set its sights on securing a significant foothold in the EV field with help from the group's dedicated E-GMP architecture.

Currently, America is focused on the new EV9 crossover SUV with three rows, interesting characteristics, and good EV mileage. But the South Koreans decided to swing a double blow toward Tesla with help from their inaugural Kia EV Day where they presented the South Korean version of the China-bound EV5 and also announced two other zero-emissions models – Concept EV3 and Concept EV4.

The reason they are essential for everyone – including America – is simple. The company also discussed the charging infrastructure and its desire to make EVs much more affordable for everyone. As such, they envisioned a price range (in US dollars) between $30k and $80k, with the currently released and announced models starting from $35k. That means one simple thing – another Kia EV is coming that will be even cheaper, starting at just $30k!

Naturally, that quickly attracted everyone's attention – including the rumor mill and its imaginative realm of digital car content creators. Thus, meet PoloTo, which is a distinctively-named automotive news video channel on YouTube - and they also share visions of new models created with assistance from AI. Their latest design project is clearly a slap in the face of Tesla's promised dirt cheap 'Model 2' as it's unofficially dubbed Kia EV2.

Besides, even the form is clearly a ruse – we are dealing here with the AI-designed virtual project of a compact hatchback with a sleek appearance and good aerodynamics. As for the powertrain, the choice is simple – the base model would feature the cheapest possible version of the E-GMP architecture to keep the costs as low as possible. So, do we like this Kia EV2 enough to give it our CGI hall pass, or are we patient enough for Tesla to release the promised Holy Grail of cheap EVs?
