Believe it or not, but the Brits from Bentley – an ultraluxury exotic automaker on par with the likes of Rolls-Royce – have had a May month so busy that we think they'll take a vacation all summer long. But only after they unveiled the fourth iteration of the Continental GT, of course.
The British company owned by Volkswagen AG started May 2024 with something to welcome the summer for the 0.0001 percenters – coachbuilt by Mulliner, the Bentley Batur Convertible features the delightful W12 in one of its swan songs for 18 lucky owners. Immediately after that glorious announcement, Bentley also revealed that it wanted to retire the W12 in favor of an ultra-performance hybrid V8 powertrain rated at much more than Batur's 740 hp.

Soon enough, there was a cascade of announcements – the 2025 Bentley Continental GT equipped with the Audi-developed plug-in hybrid V8 was spied testing stateside, the brand discontinued the V8-only Continental GT and Flying Spur in the United Kingdom, the Old Continent, and MEAI while the fresh Bentley Edition 8 quickly bid farewell to the gas-only V8 in North American markets.

But wait, as there was more – the company then teased the arrival of the fourth-generation 2025 Bentley Continental GT with official pictures showcasing a wacky camouflaged grand tourer coupe example. It wasn't just a design preview, though, as the short official memo that accompanied the photoset also discussed some of the juicy technical specifications.

As such, now we know that Bentley's upcoming V8 PHEV powertrain will boast a healthy 771 hp (782 ps/575 kW) and 738 pound-foot (1,000 Nm) of torque, making it not only much more potent than the V8 predecessor but also a noble successor of the elegant W12, which over the years ranged from 650 to 740 horsepower. Even better yet, the 2025 Continental GT is said to be good for long zero emissions journeys of up to 50 miles (80 km) on a combined driving cycle, so it can even deal with the 'daily commute' without making a fuss about it.

Naturally, the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators have gone berserk over the next Conti GT. Of course, Bentley made it easy for the parallel universes of vehicular CGI because the fourth-gen grand tourer looks a lot like a mid-cycle facelift if you ask us, with mostly the same profile and distinctly subtle changes bestowed upon the front bumper, radiator grille, and especially the LED headlights and taillights.

For example, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, also thinks now is the right CGI time to help Kolesa unravel the secrets of this upcoming Bentley – and it's not hard to imagine that his unofficial design project is pretty darn close to what the ultra-luxury automaker will unveil in June. By the way, we expect these fresh yet ultra-subtle styling changes to trickle up and down the lineup to the Flying Spur and Bentayga during the coming months – along with the all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain.

As such, it's going to be interesting to see the Bentley Continental GT fight in the grand tourer arena with Rolls-Royce's less-powerful all-electric Spectre while the Flying Spur will do battles with the Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Bentayga will set right next to the Lambo Urus SE as they stomp all over the Cullinan Behemoth and the Ferrari Purosangue.
