The South Korean automaker may boast and brag about its numerous accolades awarded by critics for the Ioniq 5 N, the all-new Santa Fe, the refreshed Kona, the Ioniq 6, or even the 2024 Palisade, but the American sales are not all roses and daffodils.
When it reported April sales, Hyundai Motor America also announced a 3% decrease compared to the same month last year to 68,603 units, allegedly because there were three fewer selling days in 2024. Concurrently, the year-to-date performance isn't up to snuff, either, as the automaker delivered 253,407 units during the period of January through April compared to 255,261 last year (minus 0.7%).
However, the company has faith that everything will turn out just fine as it saw increases of 31% for Ioniq 5 sales and 341% for Ioniq 6, while Kona and Palisade were up 20% and 30%, respectively. Even better, the rumor mill continuously hunts down the prototypes of Hyundai's next-generation cars, and one of the most prominent figures is the upcoming second-generation Palisade mid-size crossover SUV, the flagship CUV in America and other parts of the world.
Presented in 2018 as the replacement for the seven-seat, three-row Santa Fe XL and twinned with the more popular Kia Telluride, the upcoming new Hyundai Palisade will probably move further upscale because the all-new MX5 generation of Santa Fe has returned to America a lot boxier and complete with seven-seat options. As such, the slightly larger Hyundai Palisade will probably adopt some of its design cues but won't be nearly as aggressive as its lower-priced cousin.
Of course, there's no need to dream about the looks of the next Hyundai Palisade because the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is also hard at work envisioning the styling of the mid-size crossover SUV for us. For example, the digital creator NYMammoth loves both New York City and South Korea, which is why many of his virtual creations focus on the American lineup of Kia and Hyundai – and he's virtually passionate about the Palisade.
Over the past few months, the pixel master has been 'obsessing' over the next generation, and every time there was something new from the rumor mill, he also took the CGI brush and tried to bring to digital life a corresponding design project. No worries. We're not going to put you through his countless iterations because they have evolved over time as the author found more details from spied prototypes. Now, though, there's a neat round-up video feature (embedded below) that initially focuses on the potential Santa Fe-inspired design of the cockpit but then also brings out some of the latest design attempts at envisioning the exterior, too.
So, what do you think? Is Hyundai's second-generation Palisade mid-size crossover SUV flagship going to look like this?
