When purist cafe-racer design and neat craftsmanship are needed, Axel Budde and his Kaffeemaschine workshop in Hamburg, Germany, are probably one of the best places to go.
Swiss Guillaume Bureau has just learned that, as the commissioned bike was delivered. Bureau was in search of a classic, no-frills cafe-racer machine, with room for a passenger and a moderate riding position. The Le Mans 2 already had an 18% bigger displacement, and became a liter-class bike, but this was only the beginning.
The frame got a complete re-finish, with the rest of the body receiving a nice polishing in the Kaffeemaschine tradition. New Morad wheels came in place and Ikon shocks and FAC fork springs upgraded the suspensions. Brakes got steel hoses, a rear caliper and modern cylinders, and the Guzzi also received a lot of custom-made aluminium parts and a Motogagdet gauge.
Kaffeemaschine is now offering small-series custom parts for Moto Guzzi upgrades, and if you feel like adding some Hamburg style to yours, check with them. Seen on BikeEXIF.
