These days the Nurburgring is more important than ever, with more and more carmakers jumping the lap blitz bandwagon. Heck, the production car lap record fell last week, when the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ grabbed the trophy from the Porsche 911 GT2 RS thanks to a bewildering 6:44.9 stunt. And while the video of the run is the kind that can easily make one weak in the knees, we've now brought along a Ring clip that might be even more enticing.
After all, how often have you seen a NASCAR machine attacking the infamous German track?
No, this isn't a wrap job or a prank. Instead, Nurburgring settler Dale Lomas has managed to bring a recent model NASCAR racer to the Nordschleife.
The aficionado, who works as a Ring Taxi driver, among others, blitzed the track in the slab of America last week. So far, the gear head has only dropped teasers on the Bridge To Gantry Facebook page he runs, promissing that the full clip of the adventure would land soon.
Alas, it seems that the machine got a puncture on the final lap. And getting a flat tire when you're tackling the Green Hell often results in a crash. Sadnly, the Chevy racer was no exception, albeit with the accident reportedly involving a moderate impact.
"Try getting a front left blow out in a hard right, then look up irony in a dictionary. Puncture resulted in hitting a kerb, lucky not to do a proper big crash!" Dale explained on Facebook.
This unfortunate part of the adventure reminds us of the Dodge Viper ACR, which crashed shortly after setting a 7:01 Nurburgring lap time due to a tire failure.
We'll return with the complete video as soon as we get our hands on it. Meanwhile, you can check out some exterior and interior stunts in the clips below.
Update:Here's the first part of the review the followed the Ring blitz.
