Driver and passengers have a legal obligation to alert authorities whenever they witness dangerous or reckless behavior on the road, especially if they also have photographic evidence to back it up.
One woman from Florida was so shocked at what she saw on the highway that she forgot all about that. She remembered, though, to post a photo and video of it to social media.
Rashand Anderson Glespen was with her son JJ on the I-95, when they noticed a motorcyclist riding his bike while leaning back, using his feet to steer. He was the very definition of “chill,” though in this particular case, his chillin’ could have come with disastrous consequences.
Glespen tells Fox News that they observed the rider and snapped photos, and eventually slowed down to about 50mph to film him as well. She doesn’t say why she didn’t think to call the cops, though she admits she knew what he was doing was very dangerous.
“We were baffled when we passed him,” she explains. “It was crazy. I didn’t hang around after taking the video because I knew it wouldn’t take much for that to become a mess and I didn’t want to risk being involved in an accident.”
Still, she admits that witness such driving skills was “neat to see,” though she didn’t understand how the guy could put himself and others at such great risk.
After Glespen and her son arrived home, she posted the footage and the photo to Facebook, where they immediately went viral. Most commenters agree that what the guy was doing, albeit cool, was very dangerous and irresponsible.
Not surprisingly, the cops think so, too. A spokesperson for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirms they never received a report on the incident, and adds, “Yes, it violates state statute. It has to be viewed in person by an officer to be enforced.”
