Classic cars are about more than just 68 Mustangs and early Corvettes. Sometimes, you've just got to buy the lazy boy of your dreams and chop it into a nightmarish coupe, as one guy did with a Dodge Magnum.
Before it was a Dodge-badged wagon version of the Chrysler 300, the Magnum was this relaxed relative to the Charger. It's the quintessential American car from that era, the kind you see in movies all the time - pointlessly long and with boat-like handling.
Yet one enthusiast saw potential, and back in 1990 bought one. It took him 27 years and about $300,000 to get to this point, but you can buy it for less than $50,000.
The exterior is nothing short of unique. The 5 inches that have been chopped from the roof make the Magnum look like something impractical you would sketch out. Meanwhile, the body looks streamlined for racing. All the bumpers have been integrated into the body and panel gaps are down to a minimum.
With a straight wing over the back and in this shade of blue, the relaxed Magnum now resembles the Daytona. But it also has an air of funny car dragster because of the chop.
The interior is where things start to go bad. It looks like one of those crazy TV show cars from the 2000s. The wood veneer is a decent idea, but you've also got clashing colors, a funky steering wheel, totally outdated technology and a gratuitous DVD player in the back.
Our list of mods continues under the hood with a Mopar 400ci V8 engine bored out with a mild cam, all-round disc brakes, custom air suspension and electric doors.
All this can be yours for just $49,500 at Garage Kept Motors. As we said, this is somebody's baby, and he spent about six times as much.
